Repair Deli

Often we purchase new products because an old one is broken or needs repair because often the costs for repairing are too expensive, we don’t have the skills to repair it ourselves or know where to get help, and the broken item is treated as waste. The Repair Deli will hold a number of open and organized workshops to provide you with some of the tools and skills you may need to repair a number of different items, revaluing them and preventing them going to waste. Below are the Repair Deli sessions we will be hosting at Bye Buy!

Don’t Ditch It, Stitch It!

We’re running a Repair Deli session focused on repairing and altering your clothing to help you prolong the life of old favourites, make the most out of poor purchases, and to simply make mending more fun.

A seamstress will be on hand to lend a hand, give advice or just help with new ideas for repairing or altering your clothes. This is a casual drop-in session, where you can come and go as you please and get what you want from the session. If you just want to enjoy mending or re-sewing buttons with others, you can. If you want to bring all of your too-long-trousers and learn how to take them up, you can. Or if you want some inspiration for ways to re-fashion your clothing, you can do that too!

Please note: this is not a sewing and alterations service, but a chance for you to learn new skills and be inspired make do and mend.

Cost: Free!

Where: 176 Charles Street, Launceston (next door to Fresh on Charles)

Date: Tuesday, 24th June

Time: 10am - 12noon

Don't forget your reading glasses if you wear them, and maybe some cash for a coffee from Fresh.

General Repair Session
We're running a casual drop-in repair session for miscellaneous items that need repairing. We're talking broken umbrella's, loose handles & wonky glasses. Basically, if you have a broken item (which is not a bicycle, clothing or a watch - we have other sessions for these) bring it in and see if we can't nut it out together. Drop in for a long as your like, and at anytime during the below times, and join the collaborative session. Our resident-handy-man and other repairs can all offer suggestions on how you might fix your item. We'll have a range of basic tools and bits & bobs that might come in handy; hopefully there will be something to help to out.
